Computational Methods for Legal Analysis

چکیده
Computational analysis can be seen as the most recent innovation in field of Empirical Legal Studies (ELS). It concerns use computer science and big data tools to collect, analyse understand large unstructured data, such for instance (legal) text. Given that text is now object analysis, but methods are (largely) quantitative, it lies intersection between doctrinal analysis ELS. It brings with not only a great potential to scale up research answer old questions, but also to reveal uncovered patterns address new questions. Despite slowly growing number legal scholars who already applying methods, is underutilised in the law. Furthermore, given this method comes from social sciences, many scholars are not even aware its existence potential. Therefore, the purpose special issue introduce these methods lawyers discuss possibilities their application, but also pay attention challenges, with a specific emphasis on ethical issues arising from using ‘big data’ challenge building capacity such methods law schools. This editorial briefly explains some of which belong movement of Computational Analysis provides examples of their application. then introduces those articles included in this issue. Finally, personal note the way forward within Computational Legal

Phylogenetics is the study of relationship among species or genes with the combination of molecular biology and mathematics. Most of the present phylogenetic analysis softwares and algorithms have limitations of low accuracy, restricting assumptions on size of the dataset, high time complexity, complex results which are difficult to interpret and several others which inhibits their widespread u...
متن کاملStructural genomics: computational methods for structure analysis.
The success of structural genomics initiatives requires the development and application of tools for structure analysis, prediction, and annotation. In this paper we review recent developments in these areas; specifically structure alignment, the detection of remote homologs and analogs, homology modeling and the use of structures to predict function. We also discuss various rationales for stru...
متن کاملComputational methods for protein function analysis.
Two recent advances have had the greatest impact on protein function analysis so far: the complete sequences of genomes and mRNA expression level profiles. The former has spurred the development of novel techniques to study protein function: phylogenetic profiles and gene clusters. The latter has introduced a method, not based on sequence homology, that enables one to group together functionall...
